The species comes from South America, but most are bred in captivity now, and AquaticMotiv keeps this line separate from other colors so it breeds true. They are calm, easy to keep and on the move day and night, eating algae, wafers, invertebrate pellets, soft dead plant matter and blanched zucchini. They live up to about 3 years. You get 3 snails.

Care
Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 7.4–8.0 · Tank: 10 gallons or more

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Mystery snails are big appetites on legs, so leftover food gets eaten before it can rot. They are gentle with shrimp and leave healthy plants alone. They do breed: they lay pinkish egg clutches above the waterline, so pull any clutch you don't want. Keep GH around 6 to 8, and no copper.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and calm community fish such as small tetras, rasboras, corydoras and otocinclus. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, which eat snails, and fin nippers like tiger barbs that pick at their feelers. Assassin snails may go after small mystery snails.

Photos © AquaticMotiv, used with credit.

Information sourced from AquaticMotiv

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0856/5302/9085/files/3-purple-mystery-snails-pomacea-bridgesii-snail-642_30267d5f-ca0b-491a-9468-a6848b380806.webp?v=1793379634
